TORNADO TAVERN GALLERY WISHES ALL A GREAT NEW YEAR

The gallery is closed for the winter but will be doing off site shows and will open by appointment so keep in touch. I appreciate those who have viewed the Tornado Tavern Gallery blog and FaceBook sites; unfortunately I don’t know how to acknowledge them. I’ll try to find out so I can thank you right away.

We hope all had a wonderful holiday season, each in their own way. I’m writing this post while watching the first snow fall in Southern Door County. Personally I was happy with just the rain but the balance of nature needs some cold weather so I’ll enjoy as best I can.
This winter I plan on searching out interesting places and features in Southern Door County. Then I’ll write a post about it, with GPS, for the Tornado Tavern Gallery blog and FaceBook.

GREAT WEATHER IN SOUTHERN DOOR COUNTY

Well harvesting in Door County is nearly finished. The apples have finally been gathered and most of the corn is not only harvested but the fields have been disked too. Birding is in full swing either by camera or by shotgun. I walked through the great discgolf course at Sugar Creek Park and the rolling forest was beautiful.
The holiday season is here and I’ve noticed an almost schizophrenic quality to the holiday decorations, left over cobwebs, pumpkins and straw stacks with sprinkles of red sleds and jingle bells. Arts and Craft shows displaying the same mix of holiday stuff. Here at Tornado Tavern Gallery we are dusting off the Christmas Coal and wire wrapping the smaller pieces. The larger chunks are for those who have been naughty and the wire wrapped ones are for those who you wish were naughty. The “lost marble” section has lots of unclaimed marbles that may end up with new owners.
Remember our store hours have been reduced to most Friday through Sunday; it’s always a good idea to call ahead. When possible we try to open for those who will be in the area during our closed hours. There might even be some coffee available, quality is not guaranteed but it’s free.

THE AUTUMN EQUINOX IS UPON US!

The Autumn Equinox seems like a good time to start reducing the gallery hours. We will be closed on Thursday and open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We will have seasonal shows but they will be one day shows, for the most part Mary or I will have the gallery open. The stock will be reduced for the show but we will be open, watch for the open sign on out highway sign and near the entrance to the parking lot.

Two holidays coincide with the Autumn Equinox and initially they might seem to be ironic. However comparing Mabon and Yom Kippur there is a connection.
Mabon, the “second harvest”, the “changing seasons”. The giving of thanks for what we have.
Yom Kippur, Day of Atonement. Conceivably, the change from the past and giving thanks for forgiveness.

TORNADO TAVERN GALLERY IS ON THE ROAD!

The gallery will be closed this weekend and we will be at the event in Platteville. If you’re in the area come and visit. Caution we expect at least 2000 kids on Friday, we will have a ball but some might find it overwhelming.

THE WEATHER IN DOOR COUNTY IS GREAT and THE A/C IS WORKING AT THE TORNADO TAVERN GALLERY!

This, July 27 through August 2, is a short week at the Tornado Tavern Gallery. I will be on the road to the Pike River Rendezvous in Kenosha. This is a great event on Simmons Island overlooking beautiful Lake Michigan, just up from the marina. Come and visit if you can.
Mary will be opening the Gallery on Saturday and Sunday, August 1st & 2nd, at our usual time 10:00an to 5:00 pm.
Have a great week!
